Dus, kleine samenvatting van wat Ken ivm RW2020 al heeft gezegd:

Queen: not the band they're looking for
Black Midi: on their wishlist
Volbeat: way better fit for Graspop
Green Day: too high demands+ not that relevant anymore
SOAD: Time will tell if Graspop or RW for Live Nations it's the same which festival they do, otherwise unexpected big succes in 2017
The Who: Werchter could've booked them a couple of times since the last time but never did, the field was very empty when they last played RW
Tame Impala: big enough to play co for a band like pearl jam. Not big enough to play in a co-headline combo
Bon Iver: Don't rule Bon Iver out because he's playing Sportpaleis
Supergrass: not a must have, but they're seeing how fast their AB show will sell out, if it does very fast, they might be interested
Pearl Jam: if they tour Europe, they always build their tour around RW, so no doubt that if they tour they'll be at RW
Billie Eilish: on their wishlist
Kasabian and Biffy Clyro: Werchter don't want to give them a big spot, if they're happy with a lower spot maybe...
Oscar & The Wolf: maybe an option if they have a new album. But they know it's kind of becoming and overkill (same for Bazart)
Grinderman: off course if they're available
Coldplay: woud like to do a festivaltour, but organisers are afraind that they're too big for festivals
The Strokes: They try every year to get them

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Kings Of Leon and Editors: are not a number 1 option anymor. It all depends on what else is on the market bands, like Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Bon Iver are a bigger must have than those 4.

The cards are looking good for some acts who are very high on their wishlist for years, and have never made it... until now? It’s still very early, a lot can go wrong, but the vibe is good ;-).

Daar gaan de meeste van uit, maar hij heeft nooit expliciet iets over The Strokes gezegd. Misschien is dit iets té obvious en heeft hij het over Bon Iver of Daft Punk of ... en gebruikt hij 'This Is It' als gezegde.

Inderdaad, hij praat ook over acts. Maar vooral door zijn uitspraak die u had gequote over The Strokes, hoop ik toch dat 1 van die acts daadwerkelijk The Strokes is. Afwachten dus

En daarmee weten we ook waarover dat 4e event op de Werchterweide gaat. Al had ik echt geld willen zetten op een losse show van Coldplay.

Tenzij Classic ook een popdag wordt vergroot dit wel de kans op Coldplay op RW. In de veronderstelling dat al die vage hints vanuit ChiquitaChaser en Ken19 ergens toe moeten leiden.

Er van uitgaande dat het "tourgerucht" klopt.

imo, ook opvallend dat op Global Citizen de groep Coldplay staat en niet Chris Martin solo. Dan kunnen ze voor september al iets gedaan hebben lijkt me...

Waarom is dat opvallend? Dat Martin wat soloactiviteiten doet, heeft toch niet betekent dat Coldplay uit elkaar is? Het is geen Oasis ofzo. Metallica en de Peppers staan er ook op. Zegt imo helemaal niks over een Europese festivaltour.

Denk inderdaad dat dat global citizen concert een aanleiding is voor eventuele Europese touren.
Zo'n "live aid" principe willen alle bands natuurlijk aan meedoen, omdat het veel aandacht krijgt en het goed herinnerd wordt.

Lijkt gewoon een one off voor het goed doel. Zou daar verder geen tourconclusies aan verbinden. Bands gaan daar echt geen toernee omheen hangen.

Als bands voor zo’n evenement willen oefenen om goed voor de dag te komen en op elkaar weer ingespeeld te raken, dan doen ze wat losse concerten.

Kan best zijn dat er namen tussen zitten, die in de zomer een Europese festivaltour doen en op dat evenement staan, maar correlatie is nog geen causaliteit.

Misschien een onpopulaire mening maar op zich had ik Billie Eilish nog best graag op Rock Werchter gezien, zelfde met Swift. Een groot gemis is het niet maar zijn wel twee acts die ik eens wil zien maar niet de volle prijs voor wil betalen op een aparte dag.

Swift en Eilish op aparte dagen en niet op Rock Werchter zelf. Als je 2 van dergelijke acts als apart evenement kan neerzetten en rond 1 zelfs een extra evenement opbouwd, dan denk en hoop ik dat we voor Rock Werchter een aantal kleppers kunnen verwachten. Metallica, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters,... Ik heb er een goed gevoel bij. Ik denk dat we dus zeker en vast niet te klagen zullen hebben.

Ja, elk van deze namen liever dan Swift of Eilish. Rock Werchter heeft een trouw, en inderdaad ietwat conservatief publiek, dat ook tuk is op nieuwigheden hoor. Maar daarvoor dient het middag/namiddag/vooravondprogramma en/of bepaalde podia. Maar de hoofdacts mogen, grotendeels weliswaar, gevestigde waarden zijn. Editors en KOL zijn inderdaad uitgekouwd. Foo Fighters was er in 2005 en 2017 de laatste keren, geen overkill en garantie op tickets (niet mijn favoriete band btw) en Pearl Jam is al helemaal niet uitgekouwd. Alleen al hoe zij variëren in setlists... En gewoonweg de passie die ze tentoon spreiden, neen, niet uitgekouwd.
