I see a lot of people on this subreddit today talking about the uncertainties of the Pitchfork article. They say it’s “he said, she said”. They say he provided screenshots of messages.
I want to summarize, for those who might have skimmed or not read the article, the mass amounts of evidence and the approach Pitchfork took to writing this article.
- 5 people come forward with accusations of sexual harassment
- They all provided screenshots of DM’s and texts
- Pitchfork interviewed their friends and family
- Some of those friends and family were there on these “dates” and saw the inappropriate behavior
- A music journalist quit their job because of Win’s sexual assault
- One of the women tried to kill herself because of Win’s constant sexual harassment
- None of these people knew each other before coming forward
- Many more women stepped forward who had sexual relationships with Win and said that while it was consensual, they didn’t feel like they could say no.
Win did this stuff. Straight up. He is an adult in his thirties. He has no excuse for this kind of behavior. It doesn’t matter if he misread a situation, that is not a good enough excuse for this behavior.
Some other things to consider…
- All of Win’s responses are going through a crisis PR person who’s entire job is to make people like you feel ultimately ok with the situation
- Win told Pitchfork that he would put them into contact with past sexual relationships, which is just weird?? I guess this was supposed to be an opportunity for “good references” but that is just a real fucking weird thing to offer.
I get that this is hard. Their music meant so much to so many of us.
But this is disgusting.
If you “don’t know who to believe” ask yourself, what on Earth do these people have to gain? Arcade Fire was one of their favorite bands, just like us. They went to multiple concerts, they had tattoos, they flew to other cities for events.
They quit their jobs, they attempted suicide.
Why would they do this? For clout? These anonymous people are just trying to make a name for themselves? Of course not.
The evidence is overwhelmingly on the side of the women.
This is not He Said, She Said.
This is PR Person Said, She Said, She Said, She Said, They Said, Pitchfork Diligently Reported.
