Maar Simple Minds en Elbow zijn natuurlijk dikke maatjes met de organisatie. Alanis heeft er 1 keer gestaan als ik het goed heb. En lijkt me geen must voor RW.
Goede kans dat je gelijk hebt (en Alanis heeft inderdaad alleen in 1996 op Werchter gestaan). Hoe dan ook verwacht ik op de zondag ook nog wel wat uit de categorie legacy.
Ik hoop het ook heel erg.
De 'noodzaak' is er niet om alle moeite te doen voor een vlotte oversteek vanuit the UK
Ik denk dat Alanis een Barn-head zou kunnen zijn. Maar ook dat Noah/Alanis om het even is. Alanis is ook gewoon een Ziggo-dome act.
Noah heeft uiteraard meer momentum, maar Werchter kent natuurlijk ook prima de status van Alanis, al heeft ze er zowat nooit gestaan.
Ik schat de kans wel klein in. Live is Live zou ook nog kunnen. Daar is ze ongetwijfeld een headliner
Hij is natuurlijk niet gister geboekt, tijdens de boeking was hij misschien een stuk minder relevant
Kahan speelde dit jaar al wereldwijd in arenas en was ook festivalheadliner in Noord Amerika. Zijn management gaat dan logisch voor een main stage plek op Werchter.
Tja dat weet ik niet. Wellicht al vroeg vastgelegd voor de grote hoop eraan gaat trekken. Plus als je als artiest/agent enigszins de Barn een beetje kent is dat geen plan C-D of E. Dat is gewoon ook een mega-show in een hele bijzondere setting.
Sam Fender is op RW ook Headliner, in NL staat hij op het stukken kleinere Down The Rabbit Hole met +/- 45.000 man op een uitverkochte dag. Verschillen in plaatsing tussen festivals blijf je toch altijd houden.
Punt wat ik wil maken; ik zie het Werchter allebei wel doen , Barn of Main. ze verrassen wel vaker. Tame Impale zouden ze volgens mij ook gwoon in de Barn steken als ze die boeken. om nog maar een voorbeeld aan te halen.
Heb daar eens een paar keer de playlist van laten lopen op Spotify. Niet slecht maar ook voor mij niet echt vernieuwend.
Main stage zou mogelijk zijn maar ik zie dat daar eerder een plek voor zoals Lewis Capaldi enkele jaren terug. Zeker geen sub. Maar ja... Werchter kan af en toe verrassen (positief en negatief) op dat vlak
Is dat ooit anders geweest dan ?
Tijdens hun tournee in 2011 hadden ze eens vier gemaskerde drummers mee, die dan een handvol nummers meespeelden, maar verder heb ik nooit anders geweten bij deze band.
Het is en blijft toch gewoon een tweekoppige garage band, zonder drummer, die graag tape loops gebruikt. Niks verkeerd met de laatste live show die ik van hen zag, hoor.

Net foto's terug gezien van Best Kept Secret 2018 en daar hadden ze wel degelijk een band mee. Excuus.
Bon. In de AB eerder dit jaar stonden ze met z'n tweeën op het podium en ik vond het nog steeds geweldig.
Ik heb ze al een aantal keer gezien, altijd met band. Als ik die optredens vergelijk met hetgeen ik dit jaar heb gezien, blijf ik het een aanfluiting vinden. Nochtans geen slecht laatste album, maar met die drumtape voelt het voor mij veel meer een gimmick, dan een optreden.
Deze week waren er geen nieuwe namen op RW, maar wel veel beweging bij andere festivals. Sommige bekendmakingen betekenen een grotere kans (DTRH, een aantal Franse festivals), bij andere kunnen we de naam (vrijwel) zeker wegstrepen van de lijst met kanshebbers (Graspop, TW Classic). Verder zijn er natuurlijk ook weer een aantal nieuwe namen langs gekomen.
Alle wijzigingen ten opzichte van de vorige lijst staan weer in vet. Alle aanvullingen en correcties blijven welkom.

VK is natuurlijk een apart land
Toen The 1975 in België ergens om 16u op de main stond, verkochten die daar ook al belachelijk veel kaarten.
(Al denk ik ook dat hij in dit geval gwn sub gaat zijn)
Eens dat vergelijken met de VK (en andere landen in het algemeen) soms lastig en onterecht is. Maar die grote verschillen zie je uiteindelijk toch vooral bij Britse artiesten. Bij een Amerikaanse artiest als Noah Kahan zie ik qua groei eigenlijk niet zo veel verschillen met de VK. Zo'n groot veld als Hyde Park voltrekken zal hij hier misschien nog niet doen, maar voor minder dan sub boek je die volgens mij niet meer inderdaad.
