Ach.. 3voor12 is over de leukste Koningsdag pauper technofeestjes aan het schrijven tijdens Roadburn… enkel een verplicht stukje geschreven over Walter. Maar verder hebben ze blijkbaar complete schijt.

Roadburn 2023 zet vol in op de toekomst
Al jaren herdefinieert het Tilburgse festival Roadburn 'heavy muziek', door steeds meer in te zetten op vernieuwing en verjonging. Dit jaar komt die ontwikkeling, gedwongen door de omstandigheden, in een stroomversnelling. Het Roadburn van de toekomst is mega spannend.

Bij Ingmar weet ik wel dat hij er daadwerkelijk verstand van heeft. Ik zie hem ook regelmatig bij soortgelijke shows.

In navolging van de audio van Backxwash is nu ook de audio van Deafheaven beschikbaar gesteld. Vond die set van Infinite Granite toen maar saai, maar dit klinkt dan weer best lekker. Apart.

Californische innovators speelden twee shows op heavy festival
Er is nog geen Roadburn 2024 topic, dus bij deze hier een petitie om DJ Sacred een Dungeon Rap takeover te laten doen in de Hall of Fame op Roadburn.
Zowel die oorspronkelijke compilatie (op Bandcamp) als het vervolg zijn fantastisch.

Als we hevig gaan speculeren, kan ie best aangemaakt worden, maar denk niet dat dat al gaat gebeuren? Misschien bij de eerste aankondiging opengooien?
Ja lijkt me beter inderdaad. Die zal weer ergens in de laatste maanden van het jaar komen verwacht ik. De laatste twee keer respectievelijk 30 oktober en 3 november.
Sowieso heeft speculeren voor Roadburn zelden zin. Er zijn lange wensenlijstjes waarvan toevallig iets ingewisseld wordt en er zijn vrachtladingen aan namen om te ontdekken. Iets anders is er niet.
Oké nou eentje wil ik er wel opgooien: Agriculture moet er wel staan eigenlijk.

Agriculture zie ik wel gebeuren ja. Vond ze op plaat prima, maar denk dat dat live veel beter tot zijn recht komt.
Als we dan toch opgooien: voor mij graag So Hideous. Die kwamen eind 2021 op de valreep met een van de beste albums dat jaar (in een ijzersterk jaar). Past wat mij betreft ook precies in het straatje van Roadburn. Maar ik acht de kans klein, dan was het eerder in 2022 of 2023 geweest.

For the first time ever, this year we started the ticket sales right after the festival, without any bands announced. So many of you have bought tickets already, and that continued support is really overwhelming. Once again, thank you dearly. The faith and trust you have put in us is truly heartwarming and encouraging, and it has been a constant inspiration for our work behind the scenes for next year’s edition.
As an extension of our gratitude, here’s a heads up: keep your eyes peeled tomorrow, as we will have a special standalone announcement of a band that makes us very proud, and that will mark the actual starting point of Roadburn 2024.
We want this edition to reflect our very own “underground futurism” approach, to be a showcase for the current underground, inspired by the past but firmly looking into the future as well. We will be pushing boundaries of what heavy is and can be. We expect this to be a hallmark edition, a sonic adventure we'll embark on together.
As you all know, booking is more complicated post-pandemic than it used to be, so please bear with us for future announcements and know we are grateful for your patience. We can’t wait to see you all in Tilburg on April 18th-21st.

Roadburn will host the long awaited live return of Khanate at the 2024 edition of the festival.
In the years since Khanate were last active there have been many heavy bands that followed in their footsteps. Some are able to emulate the abject bleakness, some capture the low-end rumble, a lot of them are undoubtedly extremely heavy. But none quite capture the grotesque combination of all three components quite like Khanate. We urge all worshippers of the low and the slow to brace for impact come April. This is going to be one for the history books.
"As a collective, Khanate has been silent during our dormancy, but now we will get loud; very loud. We’ll be returning to the stage, to explore tension and the elasticity of time - at Roadburn 2024. Get dead.” - Khanate
