More than ten artists and projects are added to the packed program. Feat. a special set by Amenra, The Mirror by Tarkovsky, Linea Aspera, Solveig (Kaelan Mikla), J.P. Shilo, Martha Skye Murphy, Marathon, a drag makeup workshop with ChelseaBoy, interviews with Boy Harsher, Simon Bonney (Crime & The City Solution) and Kaelan Mikla as well as the annual Graukunst exhibition with work by Susanna Inglada and performances by Mette Sterre and Club Gewalt.
It has become clear which set Amenra will play at Grauzone and it’s something very special: the self-composed soundtrack to the Russian cult film The Mirror by Andrej Tarkovsky. The film in which the past, spirituality and loss are intertwined fits seamlessly with the philosophy of the band. Amenra will musically translate the spiritual story in a masterly way in a unique setting! This will be an exclusive premiere for the Netherlands and this one of the last times (if not the last) set will be played! Do not miss it!
Much-discussed minimal darkwave act Linea Aspera stopped in 2012 after releasing a legendary debut album and played again at Grauzone in 2020 after a six-year hiatus. This year the duo return for an exclusive Dutch show!
In addition to performing as part of Kaelan Mikla, Icelandic singer Solveig Matthildur will give an exclusive solo concert for the first time under the new name Madame Melancholia. Multi Instrumentalist J.P. Shilo from Australia, known for collaborations with Mick Harvey (Bad Seeds), Rowland S Howard (Birthday Party) and Hungry Ghosts, will give a special performance featuring guest artist Mick Harvey. Martha Skye Murphy from London collaborated with Nick Cave (Push The Sky Away album) and Squid (single 'Narrator'). She is known to play dark avant-folk pop with Kate Bush-esque vocals.
Brand new synth duo Badtime from the Hague will be right at home performing during Grauzone while Amsterdam’s rising stars Marathon mix shoegaze and post-punk. Fellow Amsterdam newcomer Baby's Berserk cater wave synth punk funk, featuring member Mano Hollestelle (Mauskovic Dance Band) having a number of singles on the Bongo Joe label (Altin Gun, L'eclair).
In addition to music, exclusive interviews & talks with, among others, the Icelandic act Kaelan Mikla will take place such as the Q&A with Boy Harsher about their new film The Runner and singer Simon Bonney of Crime & The City Solution will give an interview about his musical career.
The new documentary Other Like Me - History of Coum Transmissions & Throbbing Gristle will be screened for the first time in the Netherlands with, among others, Genesis Breyer P Orridge (Psychic TV) and Cosey Fanni Tutti (Chris & Cosey).
