Double M make sense for both festivals to differ from other this year with limited headliners. And it's already confirmed that they can do a festival like this last year with Download. For HF it also make sense to re-book M after 2022, as it'll be a new and unique experience with 2 sets with different setlists and demand for M was huge there.

And it'll be for both HF and GMM. That's the very logical reason for HF to move to the next weekend. I do not believe that it's just for Foo Fighters. To host Metallica for both festivals, one should move. With ability to catch FF, it's a very clever move for HF. Also, that may explain HF wish to sell tickets just after the festival - need cash for booking confirmations.
That also explains the (delay) announcements. HF made an unexpected announcement (usually full lineup recent years) to highlight some of the groups and mostly FF, as if it is announced with double Metallica, it won't be that hyped, as it's now (see on HF forum or FB/Insta). For GMM on other hand make sense to start with double M announcement to make it really big. If it was a plain line up in term of headliners they can already start with JP, A7X, etc.
And about the M dates fixed, message on their site clear states other appearances possible, but not new own dates:

Ik vermoed dat er wel zotten zijn die als de dag tickets uitverkocht voor ze hun maandloon hebben, die gewoon een combi kopen en maar 2 dagen komen. Genoeg zotten om het spel te doen uitverkopen voor januari? Geen idee van.
Ik denk hierbij ook vooral aan mijn eigen zenuwen🤗 Vindt het vooral voor de overnachting altijd al spannend genoeg. Combi's zullen misschien wel meevallen.
Stond op de schermen na Powerwolf gisteren. Die lieten naar mijn mening ook wel zien dat context veel uit maakt voor een show. Op Graspop overdag niet altijd mijn ding, maar was gisteren echt fantastisch. Snap dat zon naam geen kaartverkoop stimuleert perse, maar het was voor nu een goede headliner.

Powerwolf was inderdaad heel gaaf. En voor 1e x was het 1 van de beste bands ooit gezien. Hoop dat ze volgende x bij graspop als sub staan zodat ze in t schemeren spelen. Want ze maken er wel een gave show van!
This should make sense. I understand the feeling around Metallica and why they wont/dont/cant play GMM, but fuck that. They just should at this point. They lift up the whole lineup at this point because most names are kinda meh? For the price of 300+ at least.
Dat zegt waarschijnlijk meer over de mensen in uw groep, dan de editie met Rammstein.
Ah dat had ik gemist. Ik ben er ook haha. Ben het met je eens, was een goede show van powerwolf, terwijl ik laatste keer op Graspop ook minder interessant vond (want het was hetzelfde als de vorige keer). Ben heel benieuwd naar electric callboy. Hoop dat die als ze op Graspop staan ook een goede positie krijgen

Wat vet! Sepultura was echt waanzinnig goed op Dynamo Metalfest dit jaar, daarvoor reis ik graag af naar Den Bosch. Hebben ze ook al een datum bekend gemaakt??
