Graspop Metal Meeting 2024

Aerosmith lijkt ook weinig waarschijnlijk maar misschien wel een van de weinige oudere bands die niet onmogelijk is.

Ik blijf van mening dat in verhouding tot andere festivals in Europa tot nu toe, zonder een echte knaller, dan valt vrijwel de hele line-up tegen. Aerosmith trekt geen volle zalen meer. Tenzij het echt iets bijzonders gaat worden, is de poster, uitgezonderd van Tool, compleet meh dit jaar.

Hi everyone, I am planning to do GMM 24' and I am super excited about it. However, I am anxious as well in terms of accommodation. I will be coming from India and it will be my first time coming to Europe as well my first time going to a multi-day fest.
As i will be traveling from India and plan to travel for a month it is not possible to pack camping gears with me, so my questions are:- 1) Is there a

possibility of renting out camping gears from nearby or from the organizers directly, if yes, then what are the charges for a single person in both of the cases.
2) As Indian currency is weak when converted to Euros renting out hotel rooms will be pretty expensive for me
3) If I choose to opt for the stay packages from the GMM organizers directly then what are the cost of such stay packages

Sweden rock heeft een hele sterke line up tot nu toe, vind ik. Al verwacht ik de meeste van daar ook wel op Graspop

Ik vind het een beetje voorbarig om te zeggen dat de line-up tegen valt.
Als je andere festivals bekijkt? Zijn die ook overduidelijk aan het struggelen aan de bovenkant van het affiche.
QOTSA, Foofighters, Falloutboy zijn alle 3 normaal geen headliners op deze festivals.
Foofighters zou ik nog een uitzonderlijke verrassing noemen.Maar ik zou er niet enthousiaster van worden dan Iron Maiden of GNR.

Hello. You have the option 'Metal Town', where a tent is placed for you, providing a bed, light and electricity (i thought?). Prices last year varied between 180 euros (standard) and 520 (luxe)

Er is ook niks mis mee. Maar Akephalos vindt de line-up zonder iets uitzonderlijks nogal "meh".
Er zijn weinig uitzonderlijke line-ups dit jaar. Ook Swedenrock is helemaal niet uitzonderlijk..alleen de Pretty Maids Reunie wellicht.

Volgens mij bedoel je Inferno?
Metal town was de plek waar je een kampeerplek kan huren voor tenten, caravans en campers geloof ik

Ik zou zelf de zaterdag en zondag headliners niet inruilen voor Greta van Fleet en Metallica maar anderen zullen er wel anders over denken.

Normaal gesproken komen er nog wel Scorpions, Deep Purple, Megadeth etc etc bij.

Okay, so we have Parkway Drive, Machine Head and Pantera as potential candidates for the Sunday headline slot (+ Scorpions or something).
Here are my thoughts on each of them and their likelihood:

Parkway Drive: Their show was one of the most celebrated in this year's edition, so a return to the festival might be clever, they also draw a huge crowd with their show.
However, their set is likely to be similar to the 2023 one and I believe the band might not see a reason to return to the festival that soon.

Machine Head: Same as with Parkway Drive but wasn't there a rumour that their 2023 set was originally planned for 2024? Might be that the original plan of a big 2024 headline show still stands.

Pantera: From the band's point of view a return to the festival makes a lot of sense - Phil seems to really like Graspop and their 2023 show was not quite as a headliner and they might be interested in being billed as one. More importantly, they played almost every big June metal festival this year, have limited options in terms of non-metal-festivals (because of Phil's reputation), yet they are back in Europe with no indication that their Download Festival appearance is a festival exclusive. I also think the reunion is still hugely interesting to a lot of people and Graspop can easily make a statement similar to the 5FDP one ("They're finally ready for the big job: headlining the North Stage" or something like that) Personally, I think their return makes the most sense.

Zat laatst ook al aan Pantera als zondag afsluiter te denken. Zou mij ook niet verbazen nu ze vriend en vijand hebben overtuigd van de kwaliteit van hun liveshows. Hoeft van mij niet perse maar tegelijkertijd ook weinig problemen mee. Biedt de optie om Graspop af te sluiten bij de fantastische Marque headliner die ze voor ons hebben klaarstaan
