AC/DC’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss. Tomorrow's show in Atlanta through Madison Square Garden in New York, NY in early April will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist. Tja, op dit punt in hun carrière is een ingehuurde vervang zanger natuurlijk onzin. Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat een beetje fan dat wil aanzien.
Heb ook tickets voor hun optreden in Werchter, maar zonder de zanger wordt dat zeker een no go. Ik vrees inderdaad dat deze band gedaan heeft. Het is wel mooi geweest.

De Australische rockband AC/DC treedt voorlopig niet op in de Verenigde Staten. De band heeft zijn tournee daar afgezegd, omdat zanger Brian Johnson zijn gehoor dreigt te verliezen als hij niet direct stopt met optreden.
De band schrijft op zijn website dat de komende tien concerten van het Rock or Burst wereldtournee zijn afgelast op doktersadvies.
De optredens worden later ingehaald. Johnson is er dan waarschijnlijk niet bij. Hij wordt in dat geval vervangen door een andere zanger.
AC/DC, dat bekend is van onder meer Whole Lotta Rosie en Highway to Hell, zou na de Amerikaanse tour naar Europa komen. Op 16 mei zouden ze het festival Rock Werchter in België aan doen. Of dat doorgaat, is nog onbekend.

Ze moeten echt stoppen nu. De laatste twee jaar zijn Malcolm Young (dementie) en Phill Rudd (arrestatie) al afgevallen. OK, ze werden vervangen door personen die in het verleden al met AC/DC meespeelden (resp. Stevie Young en Chris Slade), maar nu dit... Brian Johnson, na Angus Young toch het boegbeeld. De man waarmee hun succesvolste album werd gemaakt (tweede best verkopende album aller tijden trouwens, dat Back in Black!). Het kan toch niet om als veredelde coverband te eindigen. Hou de eer hoog en stop aub. We salute you!

Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, lead singer of the Swedish garage-rock revivalists THE HIVES, says that he is willing to step in for AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, who has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss.
THE HIVES, who are known for performing in ever-changing black and white suits and their spirited live shows, supported AC/DC on an Australian tour late last year.
Now Almqvist, whose stage presence has been compared to that of Mick Jagger's, says that he would jump at the chance of performing with AC/DC.
He writes in a post on THE HIVES' Facebook page: "Very sad to hear Brian Johnson can't do a bunch of AC/DC shows due to health problems. That man is a legend. I would like offer my sincerest well wishes and get wells. And if any help is needed, I put my foot forward and say: HERE I AM!"
He continues: "I have many many years of experience rocking the world's biggest stages and, according to others, I am the greatest frontman in rock, plus judging from the reaction in Australia, your crowd already seems to really like me. Plus, I have already been singing those songs since I was six years old. So, AC/DC, please consider my application!"
AC/DC was forced to postpone the last 10 dates of its current North American tour after Johnson got the news from his doctors. The band has said it will reschedule the dates, possibly with a guest vocalist on the mic.
In a recent interview with Faster Louder, Pelle stated about AC/DC: "For all of us, I think that AC/DC was probably the first rock band that we liked. It was the first music that we decided to listen to ourselves, when we could pick our own music. We had the cassettes from a neighbor, the tape of 'For Those About To Rock' in, like, 1982 when we were, like, five or six years old. Since then, they've been one of our favorite bands. In THE HIVES, we keep referencing AC/DC a lot and stuff."
He added: "I think there are bands that have a definite sound, and sound a certain way. AC/DC's one of them. You kind of know what it's going to sound like. And why abandon that? If you come up with something, that's going to ride until it croaks…"
Asked what his favorite AC/DC album is, Pelle said: "'Powerage', I think. That's the one I've listened to most. Or maybe 'For Those About To Rock', because that was the first one I heard. But I think 'Powerage' is the one I’ve listened to most. It's been in my car stereo for years. [Laughs].

Tijdens de set van Coacella vond ik Axl wel goed klinken. Waarschijnlijk ook omdat ie niet kan rondrennen. Dus Axl die AC/DC zingt daar kan ik me wel wat bij voorstellen. Of je als fan van AC/DC dat wil hebben dat is dan weer een ander.

Hij klonk inderdaad wel goed. Natuurlijk heb je als fan liever Brian maar ik vind het in ieder geval geen slechte vervanging.
Gelukkig heb ik AC/DC vorig jaar al gezien c:
