Regarding our performance at Dark Troll Festival, May 31st. 2025.
We want to make it clear that the entire Sólstafir team does not in any way, shape or form condone rape or sexual harassment / abuse of any kind, under any circumstances.
While we appreciate the statement Dark Troll has published in response to the rape conviction of their now former organiser Maik P, and their correct decision to cut all ties with Maik, we feel like there are still unanswered questions surrounding the situation that doesn't sit right with our values. We cannot, in good conscience, knowing what we know, perform at a festival that was led by a now convicted rapist and as such, have made a unanimous decision to not perform at Dark Troll Festival.
This, combined with Graveland Festival also being canceled the same weekend, has forced us to re-schedule our performance at Dunk! Festival on May 29th, 2025. We look forward to playing Dunk! in 2026 though and can't wait to see you there. We would also like to thank the organizers at Dunk! Festival for their understanding and support in our decision and for re-booking us for next year.
We sincerely apologise to the fans at both festivals that are being effected from this decision. We know many of you commented on your excitement when we announced these shows. While this was the obvious choice for us, canceling at the expense of fans who were looking forward to see us did not come easy. We truly hope you understand. We are doing what we strongly feel is right. There is no ill-will intended to those at the festival that truly did not know what was going on.
We would also like to send our love and support to any and all victims of sexual assault / violence of any kind. We stand united with you.
