Wat mij betreft echt een beetje te veel Radio 2 muziek. Commerciële sound. Ik vind dat DTRH en BKS als alternatieve muziek festivals meer left-field moeten programmeren. Zelfde geldt voor Franz Ferdinand trouwens. Die sound is toch wel echt te op leeftijd om nu relevant te zijn, maar niet oud genoeg om weer terug te komen.

Ik zie Franz Ferdinand nu ook niet meer als headliner inderdaad. En - misschien gooi ik hier een aantal acts onterecht op een hoop - vrijwel die hele golf aan britpopbands lijkt niet echt een legacy te hebben opgebouwd. Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks, The Fratellis.. ze kwamen snel en hadden allemaal wat mij betreft ook echt een goede debuutplaat, maar twintig jaar later hebben ze bij lange na niet de status van de golf van weer tien jaar eerder (Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Suede). Enige uitzondering is Arctic Monkeys, maar die zijn ook echt wat anders gaan doen.

Toch ga ik Franz Ferdinand niet nu al minnen. Dat debuut staat daarvoor veel te vol met fantastische nummers. Matinee, Jacqueline, Michael, Auf Achse, This Fire en natuurlijk - het in dit spel momenteel ironische - Take Me Out, was op BKS2014 nog voor totale euforie zorgde.

Ik blijf het wel ballsy vinden als festivals een bepaalde act de tijd en plek gunnen om te groeien als artiest. Nicolas Jaar in de beginjaren van DTRH heb ik ook altijd heel cool gevonden van hun.

Ja inderdaad. Voor DTRH is het gewoon een hele goede headliner, op BKS zie ik het niet staan. Maar hoe er nu op gestemd wordt vind ik het toch wel vrij hard gaan.
