De kanshebbers voor de 50e editie van Rock Werchter stapelen zich langzaam op. We kunnen zelfs al namen als 'Zeer waarschijnlijk' betitelen (nog steeds met garantie tot aan de deur). Verder heel wat nieuwe namen die de afgelopen weken langs zijn gekomen en een paar stijgers, vooral op basis van tourinformatie of -geruchten voor 2026.

With 2025 festival season pretty much over I’m now stattjny to look forward to the announcements coming from October (presumably).
For Werchter my 10 I think will be there for certain (so that’ll mean hardly any of them will be) are:
Mumford & Sons, The Cure, CMAT, HAIM, The Last Dinner Party, Lorde, Turnstile, Viagra Boys, Kings of Leon and Wolf Alice.
CMAT heb ik gezien als voorprogramma bij Sam Fender. Ik vond daar nu niet echt veel speciaals aan.
Vorige week ook nog ergens gelezen (artikel over PkP geloof ik) dat zij de nieuwe hype zou kunnen zijn... Toch geen main stage materiaal dan.

Ik heb haar daar ook gezien en vond het ook niet bijzonder. Op Lowlands zou het ook geweldig moeten zijn geweest, mooi voor haar dat ze zoveel positieve aandacht krijgt want zingen kan ze zeker wel.
Tijdens het voorprogramma van Sam Fender stond ze alleen op het podium. Een verschil met als ze haar eigen shows doet blijkbaar. Ik ben er wel benieuwd naar moet ik zeggen.
Muse tourt nu al een tijdje niet stevig meer, deze zomer hebben ze ook maar een handvol festivals gedaan dus dit jaar is eigenlijk hun rust periode. Ik verwacht daar eerlijk gezegd wel meer activiteit volgend jaar. En ik zie ze volgend jaar ook meer festivals spelen want ze zullen die nieuwe festival productie niet enkel voor 8 shows gemaakt hebben.
Ik ga niet zeggen dat er ook een beetje hoop mee gemoeid is hoor. Hoop op wat bands die iets meer tot de verbeelding spreken. Ben nog in mijn naïeve fase waarin ik de lat nog een beetje hoger leg dan alweer Muse.
Zoals? Denk dat Muse een zeer toegankelijke, grote en eigenlijk altijd leverende headliner is, komende zomer er 3 jaar niet geweest, trouwe fans, ik had het wel geweten als Werchter zijnde. Pre-headliner een act als Lewis Capaldi of F+the machine, dat ook toegankelijke muziek is en je hebt een top bovenkant!
Ik ben niet (meer) zo'n Muse fan, als je het met die woorden wil horen.
(En spreek dan ook puur voor mezelf. Ooit vond ik ze wel tof, hoor, maar sinds 2015 ben ik zelf een beetje Muse-muug. Hun laatste 2 shows na een half setje weggelopen.)SOAD dan liever, als we het over oudere rockbands hebben. Om op je 'zoals?' te antwoorden.
Van mij mag er nog wel een jaartje tussen zitten. Maar aan de andere kant is Muse met een nieuw album bijna een no-brainer voor Werchter, als je ze boekt voor 2027 is het toch een beetje mosterd na de maaltijd.
Als ik mijn geld moest inzetten zou ik zowel Muse als SOAD als headliner invullen voor komende editie. En dan op de andere dagen een pop en/of classic act.

SOAD mag absoluut langskomen, ligt natuurlijk ook een beetje aan het aanbod, als er een andere "uniekere" rockheadliner ook gaat touren zou het natuurlijk ook prima zijn ipv MuseIk ben niet (meer) zo'n Muse fan, als je het met die woorden wil horen.
