Rootsy Summer Fest 2026
Sweden's largest Americana festival is back for the seventh time.
Three days of delicious music, good food and drink and good friends at Hwitans Trädgård in Falkenberg, along the beautiful Ätran water. A different festival, where you can see and hear all the artists without stress and also have time to talk to old and new friends. The festival area offers Affe's barbecue buffet, craft beer from local Pine Brewing Company, whiskey bar with tastings from High Coast Whisky, records and other merch from the artists and other things that brighten up life.
Inside the Tryckhallen you will find JaggeGuitars, which showcases its hand-built electric guitars with hand-wound pickups.
Welcome to one of Europe's finest and most important stages for Americana music. Rootsy Summer Fest creates unforgettable memories and encounters for both audience and artists.
"Market Street Ågatan"
Last year's success returns, outside the festival area we are turning Ågatan along Ätran into a combined food and exhibition market. Cajun Blend (SE) will play between the festival acts. Music, food, vintage and art go hand in hand. A warm welcome.
Artist release #3
Aaron Lee Tasjan (US)
Aaron Lee Tasjan has released five exquisite and critically acclaimed albums to date. He has toured the world under his own name, in Scandinavia several times, and as a guitarist with the New York Dolls. He co-founded and wrote all of the song material for Semi Precious Weapons. In 2021, he was Grammy-nominated for the song “Diamond Studded Shoes” that Yola recorded, and more recently, Tasjan has produced Mya Byrne’s album “Rhinestone Tomboy,” which helped establish her as one of the first openly trans Americana artists. A diligent multitasker, then, but above all, an immensely talented artist, singer, guitarist, and songwriter who is now finally returning to Rootsyland and Rootsy Summer Fest 26!
Artist release #2
The Temperance Movement (UK)
The dream booking for Rootsy Summer Fest 2026!
Saturday, August 22nd at 10pm, Hwitan in Falkenberg will be transformed into a homecoming party. when Classic Rock heroes The Temperance Movement close out Saturday at Rootsy Summer Fest. We and the audience are already cheering. The world's best rock bands are ready for Rootsy Summer Fest 2026!
Last year, Rootsy Summer Fest had a very special guest. Singer Phil Campbell was there to receive Rootsy Live Falkenberg's first honorary award, on behalf of the dormant band The Temperance Movement. The award went to the band because from their very first tour, during their rather short but incredibly fast-growing career and until the end, they never abandoned the zeal of the Rootsy association. They returned to Falkenberg during every tour, for what are now classic concerts. The band's successful journey and the unparalleled performances helped the association establish itself as perhaps Europe's finest organizer of timeless music. The award also included a prize money. No one knew then that Phil would take the money home to Glasgow and use every penny for what would become the band's rebirth.
In the spring of 2025, TTM did a temporary comeback tour to test whether their longing for each other and the musical magic they had experienced together was nostalgia or for real. Four of the five original members decided to get together and try again. The agency booked gigs at clubs in the UK and Europe and had no idea if their fans were still there. They quickly realized that this was the case and the band had actually continued to grow during their six-year “break”. All the gigs sold out immediately and before it was time to start the tour, the band had had to upgrade venues several times everywhere and sold close to 300,000 tickets in total. Reviews and audience reactions all said the same thing. The Temperance Movement is better than ever. And perhaps most importantly, it was more fun and more pleasurable than ever before to play together. The almost unreal synergies that have always existed between Paul, Luke, Phil, Nick and Simon had grown even stronger from resting for a few years.
Since their debut in 2011, The Temperance Movement has made an impact on the international rock scene. Their energetic and soulful blues and rock has taken them from small clubs to big stages, including prestigious concerts where they have opened for icons such as The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. The band's music is noted for its extreme musicality and sense of dynamics and style. Live performances have always been praised for their power and passion, and their albums have been critically acclaimed worldwide. In addition to this, they have been awarded prizes at the Planet Rock Awards, which cements their place as one of Europe's most successful rock bands. Singer Phil Campbell is a frontman who belongs in the very highest league. With this particular band behind him, Phil owns any audience with his energy, charisma and incomparable rock voice.
Welcome back to Falkenberg and Rootsyland The Temperance Movement!
Artist release #1
James McMurtry band (US)
We proudly present the first confirmed artist for Rootsy Summer Fest 26!
Acclaimed American singer/songwriter James McMurtry is one of the biggest names in country and Americana. He made his recording debut in 1989 and has since released a long line of high-quality albums.
The latest album "The Black Dog and the Wandering Boy" (2025) was praised everywhere and Saving Country Music wrote: "James McMurtry is such a master class songwriter and this truth has become so self-evident, you might even hear other songwriters referred to as the "James McMurtry" of their era or region. But James McMurtry is the James McMurtry of James McMurtry's. He ain't dead or hung up the guitar just yet. And until he does, and for as long as he continues to release albums, it remains his era. So you best stop down and take a listen, son."
It can't be said better than that...
